Z24 torque build

Hey guys. If you recently saw my last discussion, I decided to ditch my ka24 swap idea. My question here is, how much torque can you gain from the z24? I have a header and a nismo cam in my truck already, but I want to get the head and intake port and polished, the head decked 60 thou and a Weber 38. I know the motor is only good for 130-140hp. I was just curious how much of a torque gain you could get out of it. If anybody has already done this I'd like your feedback. I've also heard of people…See More

"Thanks mike. I appreciate all the info. Doing more research i think the turbo ka might be a little much. If I port my z with a Weber 38, 5 thou deck on the head and the nismo cam. Can I get that truck up on the torque a lot? I know hp is limited on…"

"Keep the KA pistons and the better compression. Lowering the compression will make the engine a dog any time you are not boosting... which is almost all the time. Get the front and rear differentials from an earlier '80-'82 720. They are…"

KAde swap

Hey guys. Radical idea here. I'm wanting to swap in a ka24de into the ol 84 4x4. I recently SAS'd it and have Toyota axles under it and bigger tires. They currently have 4.11's and I'm wanting to get some more power. My idea is to swap a ka into it and use my z24 pistons and rods to lower the compression and boost it. How well do you think this would work and also would it bolt up to the stock 720 transmission? I know you need to Fab up new motor mounts, but is there anything else I should…See More

"I'm just gonna straight axle it. I'll post pictures when it's done. I found out sway control would actually be a problem with the shocks, but they'd work, if you didn't use it as a daily driver"

"Well, their is one way to find out...go ahead and do it and let us know how it turns out.     I don't know if you want to be the guinea pig but it would be interesting to find out and others may be interested."

"That's where a ball joint spacer would come into play, but it'll only be a 3-3.5 inch lift. I'm not dumb, I know I need to redo the top mounting bracket and yes air shocks would work. Look up sir shocks. Rock crawlers use the them as…"

"Problem #2 with that idea is the shock mounting points are meant for shock loads not supporting the whole truck. Look how thin they are and would need major beefing. I don't think air shocks would work well for this. Coilovers yes, but back to…"

"Yeah I'm keeping it 4x4, but the new air shocks are no bigger than regular shock absorbers."

"Are you keeping it 4x4? I would think the added diameter of the coilovers would interfere with the axles."

Torsion bar delete

Hey guysAlright here it is, I have a project I'm working on taking all the good parts out of my old rusty 84 4x4 and putting it into a clean 85 4x4. Doing some engine stuff and all of it should be pretty straight forward, however, has anyone ever done a torsion bar delete? My big bright idea was to take some 2.0 Fox Air Shocks and just put them where the normal shocks go and act like a coilover, I already have the aftermarket upper A-arm, but has anyone ever done this before? And how much lift…See More
