Hey guys. If you recently saw my last discussion, I decided to ditch my ka24 swap idea. My question here is, how much torque can you gain from the z24? I have a header and a nismo cam in my truck…Continue

Hey guys. Radical idea here. I'm wanting to swap in a ka24de into the ol 84 4x4. I recently SAS'd it and have Toyota axles under it and bigger tires. They currently have 4.11's and I'm wanting to get…Continue

Hey guysAlright here it is, I have a project I'm working on taking all the good parts out of my old rusty 84 4x4 and putting it into a clean 85 4x4. Doing some engine stuff and all of it should be…Continue

"I'm more into the earlier Datsuns and there is a severe lack of good dyno graphs of a stock engine like the L20B. Usually they are built up. Factory rats them at 110 hp which has top be gross HP. later engines are rated 93HP. This HP @ RPM says…"

"I picked up a cam years ago, a re-grind, with .480 lift. Also I have a home made Yamaha R-1 carb manifold that I will 'sort out' on the L20B first but eventually it will feed the L24. On my mock up head... I also included a windage tray…"

"A dyno sheet would be great for a Z24. I haven't seen anything for the Z series so it's a mystery. I'm curious because I've put a U67 L series head on my old Z24 block. It's been sitting on the lawn under a tree for the past…"

"I havent been able to find a good Doug thorley, I searched for a long long time. I have a pacesetter header and I actually like it. It may not be a Doug thorley, but I think it's way better than the stock manifold. Right now with 33's and…"

"I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you get with the mods you are planning.  I'd also suggest a Doug Thorley header, the tri-y design really helps extract torque on the Z24.  There's hard to find and a bit pricey,…"

"Thanks Corey! I do thimk the Holley would be a little overkill. I'm gonna order a Weber 38 soon and maybe do the head work later. I think 140wheel is a bit far fetched of a dream for me, but hopefully with the mods I want to do, I'm hoping…"

"When I modified my z24 with a cam, balanced, intake port and polish, ITB fuel injection, flat top pistons and a 1 mm overbore, I was able to get 140 hp to the rear wheels...  That came out to be a 10:1 motor.  I'll have to look back…"

Z24 torque build

Hey guys. If you recently saw my last discussion, I decided to ditch my ka24 swap idea. My question here is, how much torque can you gain from the z24? I have a header and a nismo cam in my truck already, but I want to get the head and intake port and polished, the head decked 60 thou and a Weber 38. I know the motor is only good for 130-140hp. I was just curious how much of a torque gain you could get out of it. If anybody has already done this I'd like your feedback. I've also heard of people…See More

"Keep the KA pistons and the better compression. Lowering the compression will make the engine a dog any time you are not boosting... which is almost all the time. Get the front and rear differentials from an earlier '80-'82 720. They are…"

KAde swap

Hey guys. Radical idea here. I'm wanting to swap in a ka24de into the ol 84 4x4. I recently SAS'd it and have Toyota axles under it and bigger tires. They currently have 4.11's and I'm wanting to get some more power. My idea is to swap a ka into it and use my z24 pistons and rods to lower the compression and boost it. How well do you think this would work and also would it bolt up to the stock 720 transmission? I know you need to Fab up new motor mounts, but is there anything else I should…See More
